OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2007. To date this new material, which shifted grey cast iron, is used for casting of two KAMAZ items - “gear divider housing” and “transmission housing”, reported the press-centre of KAMAZ Inc.
KAMAZ Inc. expands the model range of “6520” heavy vehicles series, and the unique features of vermicular graphite cast iron become more required in heavy items construction. Possessing many other advantages (efficiency, fabricability, etc), this material is more durable than grey cast iron. As a result, the prime cost of KAMAZ vehicles is decreasing, and engine power is increasing up to 400-420 h.p.
In KAMAZ R&D Center the next casting – “brake drum” – undergoes the bench test. The plans for 2007 include shifting on to vermicular graphite cast iron and launching other six items of KAMAZ heavy nomenclature into full-scale production.
