OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2007. The Ceremony of Naming and Delivery of product carrier Tverskoy Bridge, ordered by Sovcomflot – the biggest Russian shipping group, took place at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg.

The tanker Tverskoy Bridge is designed to carry 5 various types of cargo, including crude oil and oil products, simultaneously, in 10 cargo tanks. The tanker is of 47,400 DWT, its LOA is 182.28 m, moulded breadth is 32.25 m and the cruising range is more than 15,000 miles. The tanker will be chartered by Statoil, the Norwegian company.

Lyubov Leontyeva, the wife of a seaman, who has been sailing on board the ships of the Sovcomflot Group for more than 10 years and is currently the boatswain of mv Liteyny Prospect, was the Godmother of the ship.

The Ceremony was attended by the management of Sovcomflot, the administration of the Admiralty Shipyards and the representatives of Statoil and Fearnleys from Norway.

Tverskoy Bridge is the 7th ship in the series of product carriers ordered by the Group from the Admiralty Shipyards. The tankers –  Troitsky Bridge, Tuchkov Bridge,  Tower Bridge, Torgovy Bridge, Teatralny Bridge and Tavrichesky Bridge delivered earlier by Russian ship builders, were chartered by the leading oil majors – Total and Statoil proving the highest quality of the series.

In June 2007 Sovcomflot and Admiralty Shipyards signed an agreement on co-operation which enhanced the relations between two Russian enterprises. Sovcomflot is the only shipping company in Russia which is placing serial orders for large-capacity vessels.

The Sovcomflot Group of companies is the major customer of national shipbuilding enterprises of Russia, contributing to the development of the Russian shipbuilding industry.

First and foremost, the new-generation vessels are being constructed. Thus, the keel for mv Mikhail Ulyanov, the first ship in the series of unique Arctic shuttle tankers, ordered by the Group for trading in harsh ice  and navigational conditions of Prirazlomnoye, was laid in June 2007 (the project is being operated by the charterer – Sevmorneftegaz). The First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Sergey Ivanov, who attended the Keel-Laying Ceremony, described the project as a real technological break-through in national shipping. The keel for the second tanker of the series – Kirill Lavrov – will be laid in August 2008.
