OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2007.  If aids to trade are advertisements, then aids to scientific and technical progress are innovators’ ideas. There are quite a few of such innovators at Zaporizhstal JSC. These are people of different age, different professions and different posts. But what unites them is their creative attitude towards their job, their search of effective technical solutions. Their proposals for improvement of equipment performance are implemented in production and bring big profits to the Works.

Only in the first half of 2007 the economic effect of the usage of 7 inventions and 265 innovation proposals totals to 15 million UAH. According to the data of the patenting, invention, innovation and technical information office the Water Supply Shop is the leader in the number of submitted innovation proposals this year (from 10 to 22 proposals per month). Improvement is noticed in the Blast Furnace Shop, Central Laboratory, Hot Strip Mill Shop, Central Electrotechnical Laboratory, Automation & Instrumentation Shop.

Among the most active innovators of the Water Supply Shop are the following: senior foremen V. and K. Rosikhin, team leader G.I. Savvov, electrician L.V. Dragomeretskaya, fitter V.A. Beletskiy; in Automation & Instrumentation Shop: adjustors S.V. Glushchenko and M.D. Krasnorudskiy; in Hot Strip Mill Shop: foreman P.A. Skorokhodov; in Central Laboratory of Mechanization and Automation — Head of laboratory O.V. Nor; in Maintenance Shop No. 1: fitters K.D. Lupinos and Yu.A. Musyuk; in Blast Furnace Shop: engineer A.M. Pilipenko, ladleman A.I. Girka; in Central Laboratory: Head of laboratory — B.M. Fogel and others.

The blast furnace operators, steel makers, rolling operators of hot strip mill and cold rolling shop No.1 have occupied the advanced positions regarding the economic effect of the implemented proposals. The largest number of inventions has been submitted by innovators who work in the sintering plant. The blast furnace operators are second in the list. Their creative search brought the Works significant economical effect. Only one invention “Method for producing sinter using prepared secondary iron containing waste” allows to save the Works 12 000 tons of lime, 1,5 thousand tons of fuel, 500 tons of coke. Many inventions are directed towards the reduction of material consumption and power supply because the actuality of this problem is dictated by time.

Innovation proposals, which are submitted in different departments of the Works, are mainly aimed to improve technology and modernization of parts and units allowing to increase production, including extension of the inter repair period of processing aggregates.
