OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2007. Ukraine is able to attract EUR 3,6 billion of investments in 2008-2012 on joint implementation projects within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol to limit greenhouse gas emissions, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

The statement to the effect has been made by Chairman Vitaliy Nakhlupin of the State Ecologic Investments Agency at the International Conference "Oil and Gas Sector of Ukraine: Reliability, Stability and Prospects".

According to him, 81 joint implementation projects have been already applied for financing.

In general, Ukraine has over 100 projects to be implemented upon the scheme of "green investments", being formed on the basis of the Kyoto Protocol.

The "green investments" scheme envisages the use of funds from the greenhouse gas emissions trading to implement various projects on environment improvement.

Ukraine gained the right to apply Kyoto Protocol mechanisms.

Ukraine has been a Party of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change since August 11, 1997.
