Today at the Government House in Astana Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov met Victor Khristenko, Minister of Industry and Energy of Russia.

The sides discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation, notably implementation of the two presidents’ instructions to boost trade-and-economic cooperation.

Victor Khristenko informed the Kazakh Prime Minister on the results of the sitting of the Intergovernmental Committee held in Astana.

“This year we are shifting from exchange of commodities to large-scaled investment projects in the realms of electric power generation and O&G sector. The year has appeared to be more than positive”, V. Khristenko noted.

According to the Russian Minister of Industry and Energy, the trade turnover between the two nations is expected to reach USD 16 billion by the end of the year.

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan expressed confidence that interaction of the two governments has put in place all the conditions to further develop political and trade-and-economic ties between Kazakhstan and Russia.
