OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2007. The European Union will continue the monitoring of Ukrainian nuclear energy facilities, Head of the European Commission's Delegation to Ukraine Ian Boag said, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

As he said, the EU means to stage a conference on financing and modernization of the energy sphere of Ukraine.

The concept of development of national energy by 2030 envisages the construction of principled new nuclear reactors at existing operational and new power plants, which safety level will completely comply with international demands.

In September 2007 Ukraine officially joined the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP).

The GNEP membership provides for assistance in realization of plans of any country in development of the peaceful atomic energy and preparation of common political decisions in the sphere of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
