OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2007. Back on October 8, Kazakhmys PLC announced that there had been a flood at its South Mine in  the Zhezkazgan complex which had led to an interruption in transporting extracted ore from the mining horizons.

Following a successful  recovery plan, the impact of  the  flooding on  the operations at the main shaft has now ended and the mine  is ramping up and should be back to full output by the end of the year,  slightly ahead of expectations. South Mine accounts for approximately 525,000 tonnes of ore output each month, with an average grade of 0.7% copper.
