OREANDA-NEWS. On February 01, 2007 Russian Post changed working schedule of post offices Russia-wide, reported the press-centre of Russian Post.

Insufficient changes focus on regions’ peculiarities given their geographic, economic and politic factors. While changing work schedule post takes into account customers’ and postal employees’ needs, offers of state and local authorities. Тhus, working schedule of over 40 thousand post offices Russia-wide tries to meet customers’ requirements and becomes convenient for the enterprise’s employees.

Now post offices of 1st class will work by ordinary schedule.

Post offices of 3rd class will work as before. Post offices in settlements with population less 100 thousand people will work till 6 p.m. on Saturdays. 1-hour lunch break will be fixed not in all regions. They will be set in accordance with localities and coordinated with administration between 12 a.m and 3 p.m.

Post office of 4th class situated in rural settlements will work five days with weekdays on Sunday and one of the days from Monday to Friday.

Those post offices rendering universal services in public access outlets: from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. or from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. or from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. without lunch break.

Small offices of 4th class that don’t render universal services in public access outlets will work from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m., on Saturday from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. Lunch break is fixed between 12 a.m and 3 p.m.

New schedule will be implemented not in all the regions in Russia. Working hours in the regions of the South Federal District with the most difficult geopolitics situation will shorten and have fixed lunch hour from 12 a.m till 1 p.m. The Republic of Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia- Alania, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Karachaevo-Cherkessiya and Republic of Chechnya.

Russian Post began to improve working schedule in 2005. Followed the restructuring federal postal communications units and optimizing post offices network their working schedule increased as they needed render wider range of services. Since then the schedule changed annually to optimize postal network.

Working hours of 1st class post offices: from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. till 9 p.m., from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. on Saturday, from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. on Sunday (without lunch break).

1st class post offices are represented by customer halls of general post offices in district, regional and republican cities and post offices in metropolises.

Post offices of 2 nd class work from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m., from 8 a.m. till 7 p.m. on Saturday, from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. on Saturday without lunch break.

Post offices of 2 nd class are represented by customer halls of general post offices and ones in large cities.

Working hours of post offices of 3rd class: from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday if they are situated in the settlements with population less 100 thousand people or till 7 p.m. in settlements with population over 100 thousand people.

Lunch break(1 hour) will be fixed from 12 a.m. till 3 p.m. Sunday is week end. Postal units situated mainly in rural areas, small and medium cities refer to the 3rd class.
