OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2008. CJSC Transmashholding will carry out its first delivery of 15 new metro cars designated 81-740.1/81-741.1, type Rusich (manufactured by JSC Metrowagonmash, a holding member company) to Kazan (Russia, the Republic of Tatarstan), reported the press-centre of Transmashholding.

The cars will be manufactured and delivered under a contract signed by Transmashholding and the Kazan metro on February 5, 2008.

The contract stipulates that 10 head and 5 intermediate cars designated 81-740.1/81-741.1, type Rusich, be sent to the capital of Tatarstan this July. Since the Kazan metro operates three-car trains, the cars will suffice to make five new stocks.

The Rusiches made for the Kazan metro are different from the base model since they operate on the alternating current. The train control system has been adjusted to the rail signal system codes used by the Kazan metro. The color schemes of the body and saloon may be also changed.

The contract concluded is the first cooperation between Transmashholding and Metrowagonmash with the Kazan metro, which is the youngest metro in this country opened on August 27, 2005.
