OREANDA-NEWS. On March 04, 2008 the proposals of the Turkish investors, the Turkcell telecommunications company, are very interesting for Belarus, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the Turkcell top management, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

“You are very interesting for us because you are one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies,” said the Head of State. “Turkey and we have never had any problems either in economy or politics. Therefore we are interested to attract Turkish business to various sectors of the Belarusian market, including the construction sector,” he added.

Belarus ’ authorities exercise great caution in choosing investors, he said. “You understand that there are all kinds of investors. There are some investors from whom you’d better keep away,” the President said, “today we have enough investors. A country should attract as much investments as its economy can actually digest.”

According to Alexander Lukashenko, all big investments projects in Belarus, especially those related to converting companies into joint stock ventures, should be approved by the Head of State. “If a company is interesting for us, then we study all the ways we can cooperate with it,” the President explained. “And the main thing: any investor should understand that we need investments to be channelled into a particular sector, the one we deem necessary for it,” he said.
