OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2008. Caspisk city High School held a popular scientific conference “Water as a mysterious cradle of life”; during this conference results of the Water Day Competition (held on March 21, 2008) were announced.
 
The Water Day festival competition was conducted to draw attention of the school students to our days problems of preservation of fresh water resource, it was also held with a purpose to form ecologically friendly behavior among teenagers.
 
This festival was organized by the Young Naturalist Station and by Department of Education of Caspisk city. It included research projects contest, dedicated to the rational usage of water resources, as well as literary, video, speech, essay and ecological poster contests. Malikat Gasaynieva (school #6) and Alibina Elidarova (Caspisk high school) declaimed poems of their own dedicated to water. While the competition committee was working on the contests results, participants were demonstrated a film about water treating system of the city. Remarkable that this film was made by the students from Caspisk high school.

Dagestan Branch of JSC “RusHydro” brought a lot of prizes to the festival: all contests’ winner received personal gifts; Caspisk high school library received a photo album with pictures and information on all hydropower station of “RusHydro” and documentary film “Water” along with a set of pictures of the biggest hydropower stations for the school exhibition “Hydropower stations of Russia”. Young Naturalist Station was granted DVD-players to be used for educational purposes.
 
The Water Day celebration is not completed yet: in April of this year Art gallery of Makhachkala city will hold a photo-exhibition of Kamil Chutuev, well-known photo-artist of Dagestan, sponsored by Dagestan Branch of JSC “RusHydro”. “Glaciers and waterfalls” is the name of this exhibition. Melting water from high mountain snow and glaciers, and rain water fill the reservoirs of hydropower stations. This water accumulated in the reservoirs serves the needs of hydropower industry and needs of communal services, agriculture, fish industry and other sectors of economy, as well as zones of recreational activities.
 
This photo-exhibition will remind us in its beautiful artistic way about uniqueness and extreme importance of water resources.
