OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2008. President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed decree on amending some presidential edicts in connection with the establishment of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation

The press service of the President reports that the decree fully complies with the federal law “On Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation” and is aimed at creating a regulatory framework for effective work of the Corporation, particularly, in the field of protection of information constituting state secret. 

The federal law on the establishment of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation took force on Dec 5 2007. It stipulates the formation of a special corporation consolidating all nuclear companies. Sergey Kiriyenko, the former head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy, has been appointed as the director general of the Corporation. In late Mar 2008 the President of Russia decreed to abolish the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy and to transfer its functions to Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation.

The property of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation will be formed by capital contribution of the Government of the Russian Federation and special reserve funds. The Corporation will also be given the shares of Atomenergoprom OJSC and the federal state unitary enterprises controlled by the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy. The capital formation period will last for three years.
