OREANDA-NEWS. April 24, 2008. Due to rehabilitation works on high voltage (110 kV) overhead power line Vilnius-Trakai, performed by Lietuvos Energija AB, power supply disconnection for a part of households and businesses of Trakai town and District is scheduled for May 10, 7:00-22:00, reported the press-centre of Lietuvos Energija.

According to Zenonas Ruzinskas, Head of Transmission Grid Vilnius Division of Lietuvos Energija AB, the rehabilitation of the high voltage power line Vilnius-Trakai is related to the construction of a new transformer substation between Vilnius and Trakai and its connection to electricity transmission system and enhancement of equipment operation reliability of Trakai transformer substation. Electricity consumption in the capital and its environs is rapidly growing thus resulting in increased load upon power equipment.  In order to secure a reliable power transmission, they are in need of rehab and replacement.

The rehabilitation of power line Vilnius-Trakai includes installation of an optical cable, replacement of worn out equipment, installation of support pole protection against birds as well as other necessary works, which would be impossible to carry out without disconnecting the power line.

“In order to ensure a regular power supply we will do our best to complete the scheduled rehab works as soon as possible. We apologize to consumers for temporary inconveniences and we hope for their patience and understanding”, - says Mr.Z.Ruzinskas.

During the rehab works on high voltage (110kV) overhead line Vilnius-Trakai, the key consumers of the town will be supplied with power by Rytu Skirstomieji Tinklai AB as far as technical conditions allow.

“Portable power generators will be installed and operated, crews will stand by during the entire period of disconnection" - says Mr.Vladas Bancevicius, Power Network Director, Rytu Skirstomieji Tinklai.

The power disconnection time has been approved by Trakai District Municipality. Households, institutions, businesses are being informed in Trakai, Senieji Trakai, Lentvaris: notifications are being sent, detailed information about power disconnection areas is available by phone number 1802, website www.rst.lt under section Scheduled Disconnections, published in the local press.
