OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2008. According to IMF projections, GDP growth this year will make 6-7%, and inflation will not reach one-digit indicator.

This was stated by Graeme Justice at the press conference on results of visit of IMF mission to Moldova.

Graeme Justice said that, perhaps, GDP growth will be higher, depending on the results of the agricultural season. It was noted that the biggest concern of the Fund is inflation rate. Such shocks, as growth in power prices, the ban for export of Moldovan wines to Russia, the increase in prices at the world markets and the drought of the last year led to increase in inflation rate.

According to Justice, the base inflation is growing, so the main goal is to keep it at the certain level. He stressed that despite the fact that this year it is unreal to achieve the inflation rate below 10%, there is no reason not to expect inflation reduction in the second half of 2008. According to IMF, it is absolutely necessary for the authorities to advance reasonable fiscal policy.
