OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2008. In June - July, 2008 (i.e. on 8th June – 4th of July) SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority organized free port sightseeing-introductory excursions „Discover Klaipeda port“ for Klaipeda citizens and guests by the vessel „Forelle“, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda port.

In June-July this year three times on Fridays and four times on Sundays SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority organized in total 32 free, one-hour sightseeing-introductory excursions by the vessel „Forelle“ around Klaipeda port waters for Klaipeda citizens and guests. City citizens and guests interested in the port operations went on guided excursions led by a professional guide to see the port terminals by the vessel „Forelle“ with total passenger capacity for 80 persons.

The action „Discover Klaipeda port“ organized by SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority was aimed at direct and visual introducing of the public to Klaipeda port operations, potential and prospects, disclosing the economic-social advantages of the marine industry, particular features of marine community work and operations, making the port territory more open to the public, promoting consolidation of the seaport citizens and marine community, improving of the image of seafaring professions.

Each city citizen or guest who has been briefly acquainted with the port activity and has taken part on the excursion around the port waters by the ship „Forelle“ was awarded an attendance certificate in evidence thereof. While attentive listeners to the guide onboard the ship „Forelle“, who correctly answered the questions about Klaipeda port, were given souvenirs.

The excursions to the port attracted people of different age groups and professions –from kindergarten children, youth centre pupils, schoolchildren, students, to representatives from sport and culture centres, business sector and government officials, as well as senior citizens and seaport guests.

Particularly active attendance and keen interest of the public to the port operations, also very positive acclaim of the participants obviously show that there is high demand for such sightseeing-introductory vessel trips; therefore the Seaport Authority has decided to continue the above action. Hopefully the dissemination of information on the port to the public will contribute to image-formation of both Klaipeda port and Lithuania as a marine state as well as perform educative functions.
