OREANDA-NEWS. On September 01, 2008 The twenty third session of the Ukrainian part of Ukraine-EU Cooperation Committee was held under the lead of Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Hryhoriy Nemyria, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

The meeting dealt with a series of issues:

1. On implementing protocol decisions of meetings of Ukrainian part of the Committee, preparatory actions for concluding an Agreement on financing program of the national component of European neighbourhood and partnership instrument for 2007 “European Energy Strategy for Ukraine” and preparing for negotiations concerning creating a free trade area and attracting a legal adviser.

2. On implementing Action Plan in preparing to the Twelfth Ukraine-EU summit on September 9, 2008.

3. On the outcomes of the Second round of talks concerning concluding an agreement between Ukraine and the EU on the single European sky (23-25.07.08, Brussels).

4. On preparing a list of draft bills adopting of which will facilitate to implementation of Ukraine-EU Action Plan in 2008.

5. On approval of a list of central executive authorities of Ukraine responsible for maintaining cooperation with relevant EU programs and sector agencies.

6. Other significant aspects of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

On the outcomes of the discussion a protocol decision of the sitting of Ukrainian part of Ukraine-EU Cooperation Committee has been adopted.

In the course of the meeting Hryhoriy Nemyria stressed on the importance of a Govt’s decision on founding a Coordination Bureau of European and Euro-Atlantic integration – a structure which is to ensure a horizontal coordination and, notably, to contribute to a more effective implementation of the decisions of Ukrainian part of Ukraine-EU Cooperation Committee.

“It is a very good news, having been awaited not only in Ukraine, but in the EU either,” Vice Prime Minister stressed.

 For the first time the Ukrainian part of Ukraine-EU Cooperation Committee has been attended by deputy director general, director of international programs of the Razumkov centre Valeriy Chalyi, as a head of Public Expert Council.
