OREANDA-NEWS. On September 17, 2008 Vice Prime Minister for European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria held a meeting with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Ukraine, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

The parties have considered the prospects of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the EBRD.

“EBRD appears a reliable partner of Ukraine’s Government in carrying out reforms,” Hryhoriy Nemyria announced. “The Bank facilitates economic growth and modernization of transport domain, energy, energy saving and development of municipal infrastructure.”

Also Vice Prime Minister stressed that despite the political crisis the Gov’t is operating as usual, carrying out reforms and making every effort to improve investment climate in Ukraine.

“Ukraine is one of the key partners of the EBRD and will remain such in the future,” Business Group Director of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Southern and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Olivier Descamps announced.

In the course of the meeting a new EBRD Director for Ukraine Andre Kuusvek was introduced. Hryhoriy Nemyria also thanked to Kamen Zakhariev who had left his post of the EBRD Director for Ukraine.

“The Government is deeply grateful to Mr. Zakhariev for his personal contribution into the development of cooperation between Ukraine and the Bank. We are convinced that with appointment of the new EBRD Director for Ukraine Andre Kuusvek the activity in broadening and improvement of the structure and quality of a project portfolio in Ukraine will prolong.”

The event was attended by the EBRD Vice President for Finance Manfred Schepers.
