The Board of the Bank of Lithuania announced legal tender the second 100 litas commemorative coin out of the series of three coins dedicated to mark the millennium anniversary of the mention of the name of Lithuania and decided to issue it into circulation on 30 September 2008.

The graphic designer of the coin is Liudas Parulskis and the author of its plaster model is Giedrius Paulauskis.

The mintage of the coins of this series is 10 thousand pieces. They were minted by UAB Lietuvos monetu kalykla (Lithuanian Mint).

The first 100 litas gold coin from the series dedicated to mark the millennium anniversary of the mention of the name of Lithuania appeared in circulation a year ago, at the end of September 2007. The third coin of the series will be issued in 2009.
