OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2008. AKADO-Stolitsa ZAO has cleared 9000 preliminary orders for High Definition TV (HDTV) services since 1 September, when the subscription opened. The service will become available in October 2008.

“We launched the HDTV subscription to gauge demand for the new service,” said AKADO-Stolitsa Managing Director Sergei Alimbekov. “It turned out that demand far exceeds our expectations. More than 9,000 people have asked us for the HDTV service in just over two weeks since the subscription started. This figure is very encouraging. Looks like HDTV is about to become a mass market service rather than a luxury.”

The terms, equipment prices and the number of HD channels available in the AKADO network will be announced later, when the HDTV service goes into commercial operation.
