OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2008. Government will finance expenditures for education and science to the amount of 76.6 bn UAH in 2009. Economics Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn announced, at a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine which concerned drafts Program of social and economic development and 2009 State Budget. The Minister stressed this sum is by 33.3% more against 2008 financing.

The Head of economic department noted that the Government plans to increase financing of scientific solutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) and branch science academies. As Bohdan Danylyshyn put it, volumes of financing of scientific, scientific-technical shares of the state target programs will exceed expenditures of 2008 by 47.3 MN UAH (21.8%) and will total 264 MN UAH at the account of expenditures of main fund of the State Budget of 2009: “Notably, NASU and Ministry of Education and Science will receive better financing of scientific and scientific-technical shares of the state target programs, more that twofold”.

The Economics Minister views increase of financing will provide with good stimuli “in order to improve the quality of scientific research and to ensure a direct connection between science and industry alike”.

Bohdan Danylyshyn also stressed, among the priority directions of development of education and technology they have envisaged introduction and forming of a list of innovation technologies within the framework of the State Program on planning of scientific and technical development for 2008-2009 as well as elaboration of software for forming and support of e-database on produced scientific-technical items along the priority lines of the development of science and technology and a whole series of other systematic measures.

“An active cooperation between the Government and NASU is also envisaged as scientific researches of the Academy of Sciences, Ukraine’s Government relies in its activity upon, are a basis to ensure its activity,” the Minister underlined.
