OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2008. The Government will create favorable conditions for investors in the housing and communal services. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko told a meeting on problems of the housing and communal services.

Yulia Tymoshenko stressed in order to reform and strengthen the housing and communal branch it is necessary “to find such investors who are acquainted with a subject-matter, recognized experts in the world, have experience and who come to Ukraine with long-term money against the Government’s security and who can and should provide efficient management in this sphere”.

Yulia Tymoshenko said that among many programs initiated by the Government and aimed at reformation and development of the branch, in particular, the water supply and sewerage systems project of Lviv at sum total nearly USD 41 million have already been successfully implemented with the World Bank and European banks. According to the Head of Government, introduction of this project allowed to reduce energy consumption and improve essentially water supply services in Lviv.

Yulia Tymoshenko also noted that the World Bank for energy saving measures, in accordance with the agreement, which took effect on November 10, grants for 20 years to the Ukrainian water supply and drainage companies a loan at sum total USD 140 million with a five-year grace period and at extremely low rates – 4,1 percent. “Provision of the housing and communal services in Ukraine should become business as it is a practice all over the world but correct business, absolutely safe for citizens who consume these services,” the Prime Minister said.

Besides, Yulia Tymoshenko noted that summing up today’s meeting a protocol would be drawn up, the main items of which would be an urgent action plan in the branch for short and long-range outlook.
