OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2009. Aeroflot is taking the incident of Aeroflot flight 315 on the 28th December 2008 from Moscow to New York very seriously. The information on this incident and its initial investigation was released to the press immediately after those developments occurred, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The medical examination of the crew before the flight and after the incident dispelled the allegations that the pilot, who sounded slurred while addressing the passengers, could be intoxicated. A subsequent in-depth examination of the pilot, Mr. Alexander Cheplevsky, showed that he had a medical problem - as the incident developed his physical condition quickly deteriorated under stress, with a possibility of a minor stroke. The crew of flight 315 consisted of three pilots, including Mr. Cheplevsky. His colleagues were fully equipped to handle any situation.

At present, a follow-on investigation is being conducted by Aeroflot and a special commission of the Ministry of Transportation of the Russian Federation. The final results are yet to be published, and the recent media accounts do not actually contain any new official information.

The safety of our passengers, crews and planes is Aeroflot's top priority and we take every measure to ensure the fulfillment of the appropriate safety levels set out by international audits and inspections.
