OREANDA-NEWS. On 03 March 2009 was announced, that a new building of Turkmenistan's embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan was inaugurated in Tashkent on 25 February. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Islam Karimov attended the inauguration ceremony. The state flag of Turkmenistan was raised to the accompaniment of the state anthem of Turkmenistan.

"The new building of the diplomatic mission rests on the solid ground of friendship and good neighborliness. The embassy's doors will always stay open for our friends and partners," the Turkmen president said during the ceremony.

Islam Karimov, in turn, noted that the new embassy building is "Turkmenistan's small part in Uzbekistan and a symbol of the dynamic development of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations. At the same time, it embodies unprecedented successes achieved by the fraternal state in all spheres of life."

Having cut the traditional ribbon, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Islam Karimov viewed the building and visited a small cultural corner featuring a multipurpose exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of the people of Turkmenistan.

A 3-storey marble building was erected in the prestigious part of Tashkent, in Afrosiab street, the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH) said. It was built by Turkish Erku company. The architectural design of the embassy building combines modern trends and ancient Turkmen traditions of architecture and national decor.
