OREANDA-NEWS  On 04 March was announced, that on Monday Paris hosted the VIII sitting of the Kazakh-French intergovernmental committee for economic cooperation. The Kazakhstan’s delegation was headed by Economy and Budget Planning Minister Bakhyt Sultanov while the French side was represented by Anne-Marie Idrac, State Secretary for Foreign Trade.

The sides focused on partnership relations in electric power industry. In particular, Kazakhstan proposed France to consider participating in electric power generation projects in its territory on public-private partnership basis. Alongside with that, the sides have agreed to lay foundation for cooperation of research facilities of the two nations in nuclear industry.

The sides also dwelt on prospects of cooperation in rail and motor transport sectors, civil aviation, space industry, as well as in realms of technology transfer, agriculture, environment protection and monopoly control.

The VIII sitting of the Committee was held at the threshold of the visit of President N. Sarcozy to Kazakhstan. In this context, the sides considered recommendations on drafting intergovernmental and interagency agreements.
