OREANDA-NEWS. March 10, 2009. According to the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova, Ukrainian export to Moldova grew by 29,3% - up to US 1178 billion and Moldavian export to Ukraine – by 0,8% - up to US 169 million.

Trade turnover between Ukraine and Moldova (excluding Transnistria) amounted to US 981 8 million. Ukraine mostly exported production of agriculture and processing industry - 31%, electricity and oil products - 22.2%, steel goods- 15,2%, products of chemical industry - 9,6%, production of mechanical engineering - 8,8%, wooden industry products- 4,8%. Moldova mainly exported wines - about 19%.

Nevertheless, in 2008 the volume of export of these goods fell by 15.1% as compared with 2007 and amounted to US 32.2 million.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Ukraine, Moldova is one of the major foreign economic partners of Ukraine. In particular, as regards trade with the Ukraine, Moldova ranks the fifth among CIS countries (after Russia, Turkmenistan, Belarus and Kazakhstan) and 23 among the countries of the world.
