OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2009. Leu has maintained its stability in comparison with the main currencies and the banking system of Moldova has demonstrated high level of durability.

This was announced by the head of the National Bank of Moldova, Leonid Talmaci during the meeting on situation in the financial and banking sector, held by the President Vladimir Voronin with participation of the Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii and other officials of the government, National Bank and the Presidency.

The president of NBM noted that as of March 20, coefficient of the current liquidity on the banking system amounted to 30.1%, or 1,5 times more than the minimum rate ( 20%). Leonid Talmaci stressed that the inflow and outflow of currency from January 1 up to March 20, 2009 were more balanced than the last year.

Thus, in 2008, the outflow of currency exceeded inflow by US224.2 million, while in 2009 it amounted to only US 97.6 million. In this regard, it was concluded that the macroeconomic situation in the currency inflow is better than the last year and fluctuations recently registered at the currency market have no objective reasons.

It was also noted that in the result of currency manipulation, the citizens have suffered significant financial losses.
