OREANDA-NEWS.  On 08 April 2009 was announced, that during the first five months since its launch in October 2008, the Casting and Rolling Complex (CRC, Vyksa District, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has produced 100 tonnes of coiled steel. For the first time, CRC’s monthly production program has been fully implemented: the plan for February was implemented 108%.

A total of 68,000 tonnes have been shipped to the main consumers of CRC products, OMK's Vyksa Steel Works and Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (APP).

At present, CRC produces medium- and low-carbon steels St3SP, 20, and 22GYu. The production of such steels as 10, 13, and G1SU is in the process of development. It is also planned to develop the production of 09GSF, 13HFA, 17G1SU, and 09G2S steels. In March, CRC plans to complete the development of the main steel grades that are required for pipe production by VSW and APP.

CRC is Russia’s first manufacturer to produce hot-rolled steel coils out of thin slabs employing the most cost-efficient technology. What makes CRC’s production capacity unique is that continuous casting and rolling are combined in a single technological process. CRC’s products range from low-carbon to heavy-duty and corrosion-resistant steels designed for pipes used in severe climatic conditions.

CRC’s output plan for 2009 is 1 million tonnes of coils.
