OREANDA-NEWS. On 15 April 2009 was announced, that Volokolamskaya and Mitino stations of the Moscow metro will be open in the Russian capital this year.

“We go on financing the metro development,” Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov said on April 9.

The official emphasized that despite the financial crisis the work would be continued.

“The new stations will be open for sure. We cannot but proceed with the work in such an essential and, I would say, strategic field,” Mr Luzhkov added.

The mayor of Moscow specified that the amount of investment in the metro development in 2009 was about 26 billion roubles (~USD 765 million).

“I am sure the work in the Moscow metro will have been done in time,” Mr Luzhkov concluded.
