OREANDA-NEWS. On July 21, 2009 The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko had a meeting with Secretary of the General People's Committee of Libya Al-Bahdadi Ali Al-Mahmoudi. Following the meeting in a tкte-а-tкte format the heads of governments of Ukraine and Libya held the fourth joint sitting of Ukrainian-Libyan Cooperation Commission.

In the course of talks the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko noted that despite the global financial crisis in 2009 trade turnover between Ukraine and Libya had increased twofold as compared to the last year. “It means our cooperation has become more intensive and effective,” the Head of Government underlined.

The Premier of Ukraine emphasized one of the principal directions of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Libya appear projects in energy domain. According to her, today during the sitting of Ukrainian-Libyan Cooperation Commission the parties achieved an understanding on building of oil refinery in Ukraine with participation of Libyan investors.

Also Yulia Tymoshenko stressed both countries plan to develop cooperation in agrarian sector. In particular, as she explained, it concerns export of Ukrainian grain to Libya and other countries of African continent and drawing of Libyan investments into construction of a huge cattle-breeding complex on the territory of Ukraine.

Besides, the Prime Minister said the two countries developed cooperation in military-technical area, space and aircraft building.

“I know these tasks are significant but not easy. They call for concentration of our efforts, direct participation of the two prime ministers,” Yulia Tymoshenko opined and thanked to the Leader of Great September Revolution Muammar Quaddafi for he pays great attention to cooperation between Libya and Ukraine.

In his turn, the Secretary of the General People's Committee of Libya Al-Bahdadi Ali Al-Mahmoudi underlined Libya stands for deepening of cooperation with Ukraine: “We are ready to sign Partnership Agreement between the Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and Ukraine,” he emphasized and thanked to the Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko for the hospitable reception.
