OREANDA-NEWS. August 07, 2009. Freight One’s Nizhny Novgorod branch hauled over 7000 rail cars in July this year, beating the record set in November 2008 by 14%, reported the press-centre of Freight One.

In July the branch exceeded its targets by 22% due to growth in the haulage of cisterns, cement carriers and covered wagons. The branch managed to increase its market share in the Gorky railway by 12.4%, and was also dominant in the area of cement haulage: in July Freight One carried 188,000 tonnes of cement — more than 60% of the total volume of cement haulage on the railway.

“November 2008 was the branch’s peak haulage month before the downturn. December saw a noticeable drop in volumes. But the company’s sensible management policy of providing agreeable conditions for freight dispatchers meant we were able to keep volumes at a stable level through the first half year and gradually increase them. We have begun the second half with new production records”, said Alexander Kornyshov, acting director of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of JSC Freight One.
