OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2009. OOO Tatneft P-D-Alabuga Steklovolokno, a Joint Venture Tatneft-Alabuga and P-D Glasseiden GmbH Oschatz (subsidiary of the German Preiss-Daimler Group), continues construction of the factory for the production of glass fiber and glass fiber-based products with output capacity of 21 thousand tons per year. The first stage of the factory commissioning (glass fiber processing) is scheduled for late November 2009. The second stage (glass fiber production) has been scheduled for April 2010, reported the press-centre of Tatneft

The project implementation will result in the emergence of a new high-tech production works in the territory of the “Alabuga” Special Economic Zone (Republic of Tatarstan), which will create about 300 jobs. The Joint Venture is oriented on manufacturing high-quality glass fiber products used in construction, automotive, shipbuilding, electro-technical and other industries. Investments into the project will amount to 74 million Euros. The amount of 20.8 million Euros has been spent as of today.

The Joint Venture is aimed at producing high-quality competitive products made of glass fiber for application in construction, automotive, shipbuilding, electro-technical and other industries. The Joint Venture will produce direct roving (used as a reinforcing material for plastics filling, overwrapping, machine spraying, glass fiber pipes, etc.), glass fiber mats (used for the production of glass fiber panels, boat hulls, bath tubs, vehicles, vehicle bumpers, boxes, etc.), glass fiber mesh (intended for plastering, reinforcement of asphalt/concrete surface coverage, thermal insulation, etc.). Preiss-Daimler Group will organize the production on a turnkey basis ensuring training of professionals and it will also provide the own brand and know-how, refractory materials for the glass-melting furnace, process equipment, etc., and in addition the Company also plans to arrange sales of the products through its marketing network.

The advantages of constructing the factory in the territory of SEZ Alabuga include the possibility of using tax incentives, favorable geographical location (proximity of a large petrochemical and a large automobile manufacturing businesses and other industrial enterprises), as well as a well-developed transport infrastructure in the region.
