OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2009. In 2010 Ukraine plans to buy 32 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko announced during the briefing.

“We will suggest 32 billion cubic meters of gas the following year for Ukraine,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted. She reminded that the previous year Ukraine had consumed 52 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas. According to her, shortening in consumption of gas implies “that Ukraine is replacing gas with other kinds of energy resources”.

The Head of Government informed that within nearest time the head of Naftogaz would visit the Russian Federation in order to implement a respective order. At this, Yulia Tymoshenko stressed that the order for purchase of Russian natural gas was being fulfilled pursuant to the signed bilateral contracts in the amounts necessary for Ukraine.

“Nothing can hamper Ukraine to submit a smaller order according to the current contracts and it won’t be followed by any fines for 2010. We can apply for 27 billion or 26 billion, depending on calculations of the Economics Ministry of Ukraine,” the Prime Minister stressed.
