OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2009. The CIS Headquarters for Joint Investigations of Antimonopoly Violations now has two more Sub-Groups:

the Sub-Group for joint investigations of violations on retail markets in the CIS member-states; and

the Sub-Group for joint investigations of violations on pharmaceutical markets in the CIS member-states.

The Sub-Groups are chaired by representatives of the antimonopoly authorities of the Republic of Moldova and the Kyrgyzia Republic accordingly.

The decision was made by members of the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy (MSAP) at its 30th meeting in Yerevan.

MSAP is composed of the Heads of antimonopoly authorities of the CIS member-states. MSAP is the main site for cooperation between antimonopoly authorities of the CIS member-states. The scope of MSAP agenda is expanding to cover all areas of activities of CIS completion authorities. In the future, cooperation within CIS may serve as the basis for developing a system of supranational regulation of competitive relations in the trans-border market in CIS and become an analogue of the European model for regulation of such relations.

Currently the Headquarters has five Sub-Groups:

The Sub-Group for joint investigations of violations on the market of passenger air transportation (chaired by Russia);

The Sub-Group for joint investigations of violations on the telecommunication market (chaired by Russia);

The Sub-Group for analyzing the grain market (chaired by Russia);

The Sub-Group for joint investigations of violations on the market of fuel and lubrication materials (chaired by Kazakhstan);

The Sub-Group for improving cartel investigations (chaired by Ukraine).
