OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2009. Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has been among Russia's first pipe producers to obtain the Certificate Confirming Compliance of Quality Management System (QMS) with the Requirements of STO Gazprom 9001-2006. The certification audit for VSW was conducted in August 2009 by experts of the Certification Association RUSSIAN REGISTER, reported the press-centre of OMK.

This document confirms that the electric-welded pipes (including those having external corrosion-resisting coating and internal friction-reducing coating), casing pipes, production strings, seamless pipes, and couplings designed and manufactured by VSW comply with the requirements of STO Gazprom 9001-2006. The certificate validity period: until 2012.

STO Gazprom 9001-2006 is part of Russia's first corporate set of QMS standards approved by Russian and foreign experts and the Russian Government. This Certificate enables VSW to serve as Gazprom’s approved supplier and have contracting advantages over its competitors.

“VSW and Gazprom have been partners for many years. We supply pipes for such major projects implemented by Gazprom as North European Gas Pipeline, Bovanenkovo-Ukhta, Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok, Jubga-Sochi, and others,” said VSW Executive Director Vladimir Kochetkov. “We are proud to have obtained this Certificate among Russia's first pipe manufacturers. This event was preceded by some strenuous efforts on the part of our specialists. I’m positive that the confirmation of compliance of the VSW Quality Management System with the requirements of STO Gazprom 9001-2006 will open new horizons for our cooperation with the gas corporate group.”
