OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2009. The Gazprom Headquarters hosted a meeting of the Company’s Coordinating Committee for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. The meeting was moderated by Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Head of the Coordinating Committee.

Taking part in the meeting were heads of the Gazprom Administration specialized subdivisions and subsidiary companies – Gazprom gaznadzor, Gazprom neft, SOGAZ, Gazprom sotsinvest and Piter Gaz.

The meeting participants discussed the issues of insuring against Gazprom’s environmental risks. It was noted that at the moment, in compliance with the Russian legislation in force, the mandatory insurance of legal entities’ liability covered only those production facilities that were under operation. The specialized subdivisions were tasked to elaborate an insurance program for insuring against the Company’s environmental risks.

The Committee meeting addresses the issues of ensuring environmental safety when constructing Gazprom’s sports and tourist facilities in Sochi and the Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline. The appropriate subdivisions and subsidiaries were entrusted with exercising control over the required environmental protection measures execution on each and every stage of facilities construction and operation. In particular, the measures are aimed at protecting the air, water, soil, flora and fauna.

The Coordinating Committee addressed the issues of preventing and cleaning the accidental spills of oil and oil products. A decision was made to prepare the corporate regulatory documents related to operations management streamlining.
