OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2010. Sibirtelecom put into commercial service the optical backhaul network (DWDM) in the city of Omsk. The similar networks that were constructed on the basis of the Pusk-M equipment produced in Russia by T8 LLC were also constructed in Novosibirsk and Novokuznetsk at the end of the year.

The project for the construction of  the DWDM network was implemented in Omsk in 2009. The backhaul network will connect 8 urban communication centers to an optical ring. Each center will provide data transmission at a rate of 10 Gb with a possibility of increasing speed parameters to 40 Gb. A high degree of protection over the “ring” at the DWDM level will make it possible to provide communication services to subscribers without interruption.

“Pusk-M Equipment is highly competitive with international counterparts in quality; available technical support and professional consultations create favorable conditions for the operation,“ said Maksim Kudryavtsev, Acting Director of Omsk Branch of Sibirtelecom OJSC. “Besides, the investments are made in the development of our own telecommunication sector and are not allocated abroad. About 60% of Sibirtelecom’s equipment operating in the Omsk region today is produced in Russia. In 2010, we plan to continue upgrading mainly by means of Russian equipment, spending over 150 mln rubles for its purchase.”

T8 Company is the biggest professional Russian supplier of complex DWDM solutions based on Russian equipment. It has successfully implemented the projects of the construction of DWDM networks in Moscow, Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad, and Murmansk regions, and the Komi Republic
