OREANDA-NEWS. January 25, 2010. The Turkmen-Belarusian commission for economic cooperation conducted a working meeting in the capital of the Republic of Belarus, Minsk on the eve of the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The representative delegations of the two countries led by Vice Premier H. Saparlyev and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Burya took part in the meeting.

The discussion, which turned into a lively exchange of views on the current state and prospects for the development of intergovernmental cooperation, the sides reviewed the progress in implementing the agreements reached during the bilateral meetings at the top level as well and the decisions made during the first and second meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which had taken place in January 2008 and September 2009.

The participants focused with satisfaction on the high dynamics of Turkmen-Belarusian relations and the positive trend of expanding cooperation in the priority fields observed in recent years. The key fields for cooperation in mutual interests included trade, transport, chemical industry, agriculture, sports, tourism, science and education where the positive experience of cooperation had been accumulated.

Expressing ken interest in further intensifying the intergovernmental dialogue that would receive a powerful incentive to develop during the coming official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Belarus, the participants underscored the need to establish closer and direct ties and contacts between the public enterprises as well as private producers who considerably contributed today to maintaining the high growth rates of the national economies.

The participants underscored the importance of conducting bilateral meetings and consultations on a regular basis that enabled to work out the common approaches to building equal, mutually advantageous partnership, the mutual readiness for a transparent dialogue and constructive collaboration on the further effective use of the existing profound potential of political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Upon concluding the working meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian commission for economic cooperation the Protocol was signed and the Framework Agreement for exploration of a potassium deposit in Lebap Velayat was reached between Turkmenhimiya State Concern and Belgorhimprom Public Corporation.
