OREANDA-NEWS. February 05, 2010. Lately media, including "Internet" sites, have been actively disseminating information that Russian companies will be increasing prices for coking coal by 30-40%. As the sources of information media quote, in particular, producers of coking coal, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

In this connection FAS Russia would like to draw attention of producers of coking coal that disseminating information about future prices can be interpreted by the antimonopoly authority as concerted actions among economic entities resulting in restricting competition on the market of coking coal.

Exercising competition-restricting concerted actions incurs administratively liability - a fine from one hundredth to fifteen hundredth of the violator's income from selling products (works, services) on the market where the administrative violation was committed, as well as criminal liability - up to six years of imprisonment and a fine up to one million Rubles.

In the second part of 2008, FAS Russia revealed violations on the market of coking coal: a number of coal producers abused their market dominance and fixed monopolistically high prices. Currently there are valid FAS Russia's determinations regarding such companies that are aimed at protecting competition and preventing monopolistic activities on the market.
