OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2010. Income from normal operations of the Closed Joint Stock Company Ukraine International Airlines in 2009 totalled UAH 2.2 billion, up by 16% on 2008 (UAH 1.9 billion), reported the press-centre of UIA.

The operating profit of the Airline in 2009 was UAH 40 million, which was less than half that in 2008, when UIA recorded an operating profit of UAH 83 million.

According to the 2009 results, the net profit of UIA amounted to UAH 7.9 million, 27% less than in 2008, when the same figure reached UAH 10.8 million.

"The financial results for the Airline’s operations in 2009 are lower than the comparative figures for previous years for very obvious reasons, - said UIA President Yuri Miroshnikov. – The global financial crisis influenced the aviation industry adversely. But in times, when the total decrease of the air transportation market in Ukraine fell by more than 17%, UIA’s business decreased only by 6%. 2009 is the 10th straight year in a row of profit for UIA. This is first and foremost the result of the successful implementation of the crisis management program, but also fleet renewal and network development into new and prospective markets”.
