OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2010. The volume of foreign trade of agro-food products of Moldova in 2009 amounted to USD 1 billion 133 million, decreasing as compared to 2008 by 7,6%. As it was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, in 2009 Moldova has increased agro-food exports by 4% - up to USD 620 million.

The increase was largely due to the growth in the export of wheat, corn, sunflower and apples. At the same time, the share of CIS countries in the Moldovan agro-food exports in 2009 accounted for 53.2% of the total volume of Moldovan agro-food exports and the share of EU - 33,7%. During this period, Moldovan agro-food imports amounted to USD 513.5 million, or 18.6% less than in 2008.

Import from CIS made 49,3% of the total deliveries and from the European Union- 30,1%, respectively. Positive trade balance of agro-food products of Moldova in 2009 amounted to USD 106,5 million.
