OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2010. At the end of April, Baltika Breweries will launch a new product on the market — Life Spring bottled water, drawn from artesian wells in Yaroslavl. The water is purified in four stages, including secondary filtration with nanofilters that allow the water’s natural mineralization to be preserved. Baltika Breweries conducted geodesic surveys in several regions to find high-quality water with a balanced natural chemical content. The water from the artesian wells in Yaroslavl fully satisfied all the requirements.

In these unstable economic conditions, where regulation of the brewing sector is intensified, Baltika is finding new ways to strengthen its market position. Diversifying its brand portfolio, developing non-beer segments — these are the elements of Baltika’s long-term strategy.

"In launching Life Spring bottled water, Baltika is strengthening its position in the non-beer segment," noted Denis Sherstennikov, Baltika Vice President for Marketing. "Last year we launched a successful new product — the naturally-fermented kvass Khlebny Krai; now we are offering our customers the bottled artesian water ‘Life Spring’."

Life Spring water is drawn from 80-metre-deep artesian wells in the city of Yaroslavl. It undergoes filtration through screen filters, sand filter beds, and finally high-tech nanofilters. These nanofilters allow the water’s natural content, rich in trace elements, to be preserved. Baltika Breweries purchased equipment from the world’s leading membrane manufacturer specially for the launch of Life Spring water. After nanofiltration, the water is ozonized, which in contrast to chlorination is an ecologically clean filtration method.

Life Spring water is intended for daily consumption.

Life Spring sparkling and still water will be produced in 0.5-litre and 1.5-litre bottles. Baltika Breweries plans to gradually enter the water market, beginning with test sales of Life Spring in the European part of Russia. To promote Life Spring, Baltika Breweries plans to use its distribution network, one of the most developed in Russia. Life Spring water situated in a mid-range price category.
