OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2010. Ingosstrakh paid to its client, one of the largest Russian banks, an indemnity of over 4.8 mln rubles for damage of an ATM by intruders and theft of cash.

Law-enforcement authorities have initiated criminal proceedings pursuant to Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – theft committed on a large scale.

According to the order to initiate criminal proceedings and other documents presented, at the night of February 22 to February 23, 2010 an unidentified person has broken into the shop premises located in Serpukhov Town, Moscow Region and forced open the ATM belonging to the bank by way of mechanical attack. The intruder has succeeded in stealing the cash in amount of over 4.6 mln rubles. In addition, the ATM was heavily damaged. After the technical investigation had been conducted, the ATM was recognized as unserviceable.

The damaged ATM with the cash was insured by Ingosstrakh under the ATM and cash insurance program. The coverage provides for compensation of losses, including losses resulting from burglary, robbery and brigandage.

The coverage was paid in full in the amount of the cash stolen and amount insured with respect to the ATM.
