OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. A Lithuanian delegation chaired by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius started the second day of its work visit to the Kingdom of Denmark with a meeting with Peter Straarup, head of Danske Bank A/S, reported the press-centre of Danske Bank.

This one-hour meeting involved discussions concerning Lithuania’s current macroeconomic situation and economic trends and prospects. The parties also discussed opportunities for closer cooperation and the peculiarities of the Lithuanian business environment.

The head of the Danske Bank Group was optimistic about Lithuania’s macroeconomic indicators, which provide evidence for a revival, and emphasised the importance of responsible business in all fields of the economy, the banking sector included. Mr Straarup noted that any bank in any country is first of all responsible for the deposits which are entrusted to it by clients and which must be treated properly. The head of Danske Bank further stated that the increasing stability and growth prospects of the Lithuanian economy will be accompanied by greater activity in the banking sector.

After the meeting with the head of Danske Bank A/S, the Lithuanian delegation chaired by the Prime Minister left for an international conference, World Climate Solutions 2010/The Growth of the Green Economy: Best Examples. Later the Prime Minister is to give a lecture to Copenhagen Business School students and take part in a roundtable discussion with heads of the Danish Confederation of Industries.
