OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2010. Ukraine has currently sent for export 2 million 280 thousand tons of barley. Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers.

The Minister noted that Ukraine is a leader in barley export in the world, and this year, according to the balance, barley export opportunity makes 2.2 million tons. "We estimated the ability to export barley at 2 million 200 thousand tons, today we have exported 2 million 280 thousand tons" - he stressed and noted that it shows that barley export volumes are limited.

Mykola Prysyazhnyuk recalled that by the end of the year additional 200 tons of barley are previewed for export.

In addition, the Minister noted that the Ministry of Agriculture today conducts an analytical work with meat manufacturers on the quantitative needs of barley in their feed or partial replacement of it with corn. "I think that for January 1-10 we clearly would know and if there is evidence that domestic consumption of barley will remain the same, barley will be limited" - he said.
