OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2010. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan started another program – internship – aimed at improvement of economic knowledge and development of professional skills of students, reported the press-centre of Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The program provides interns with an opportunity to realise their potential and gain new experience. In 2009-2010 academic year 27 students and graduates of foreign and local universities completed the internship program in the Central Bank.

Given desires and interests of each student and graduate, they were allocated to respective departments of the Central Bank where they studied workflow, as well as gained experience through tasks and work for the leading financial institute of the country.

The applicants interviewed under the respective procedure practised in Legal Department, Department of Monetary Policy, Credit Institutions Supervision Department, Departments of Information Technologies, Market Operations, Financial Management, Internal Audit, and International Relations and Communications, as well as in the Research and Development Centre. Later, based on feedback, the students and graduates completed the internship program were granted certificates.

Head of Human Resources Department of the Central Bank Leyla Nabiyeva said: “Internship is an excellent opportunity for students and graduates to in practice apply theoretical skills gained at the university. During internship they can closely go into their future profession and work in team. Students can, along with gaining experience, continue their education. The Central Bank, in its turn, via this program, expands relations with universities and increases its staff potential through interns.”

27 participants of the internship program conducted in 11 departments of the CBA represented 8 universities and 1 college. Along with the students and graduates of local universities, students and graduates from universities of Canada, Sweden, Russia and the United States were among participants as well. 16 of them were bachelors and 11 – MA. It was a pilot program which is to be continued in future, since it significantly influences further professional development of students.

OJT ended with an opportunity to launch career with the CBA for some of the graduates.
