OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2010. The Government supports financially and administratively the development of science and technology, and innovation policy. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during a meeting on science, technology and innovation policy.

Mykola Azarov noted that the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has set the Government a task on the challenge of scientific and innovative component in the economy of Ukraine. The Prime Minister said that it needs mobilization of scientific, technical and investment potential of the country.

"We have to create organizational forms, find incentives, that means to create an environment in which we should develop our innovations, new research directions" - the head of the Government said and added that it is necessary to clearly define what areas need to be developed and invested: "Now we have accumulated some resources, we expect the economy to let us next year concentrate some money."

In particular, according to the Prime Minister, the Government is ready to support basic science, to credit through state banks: "Of course, we should find opportunities to attract private capital to support research of applied nature."

Mykola Azarov noted that in 2006 the government began implementing of this strategy. Then legislatively technological parks were created, over 2 billion has been allocated to fund innovative projects, council on investments and innovation existed under the Government. Unfortunately, according to the Head of the Government, in 2008-2009 these projects were stopped.

"We are ready to renew all the financial and organizational, administrative incentives. It is important to know what we have promising and important, where we should focus our attention"- Mykola Azarov summed up.
