OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2011. Uzbekistan Banks Association held a ceremony of awarding the winners of the contest among banks in attracting deposits in 2010. The annual contest was organized in accordance with the decree of President Islam Karimov of 31 October 2008.

According to the Central Bank, today commercial banks and their branches offer more than 400 types of deposits in national and foreign currencies. In 2010, the volume of deposits in the country’s banks grew by 53% compared to 2009.

31 commercial banks, 810 branches and about 4,000 mini banks and special cashier desks took part in the event, which aimed to identify the most efficient banks offering deposit services. The program of this year included 8 main and 11 additional nominations.

The National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity became the winner in the nomination of “The best bank in attracting deposits of the population”.

The first prize in the nomination “The best branch in attracting deposits of the population in the cities” was given to operational department of the Khorezm regional branch of the state commercial People’s Bank.

Kitob branch (Kashkadarya region) of Mikrokreditbank became the winner in the nomination “The best branch in attracting deposits in rural areas”, they had done considerable work in this direction over the past year.
