OREANDA-NEWS. February 04, 2011. TTC experts took part as members of the Russian delegation in discussions of a plan for an international standard “Architectural systems for security controls for preventing fraudulent activities in public carrier networks”. TTC is the initiator and a key participant in its development, reported the press-centre of TTC.

The latest round of discussion of the standard took place at a meeting of Study Group No. 17 of the International Telecommunication Union’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (SG 17 ITU-T). The Group studies issues of ensuring security in telecommunication networks. Statistics from various carriers show that they lose from 3 to 8% of their earnings due to fraudulent activities.

TTC’s experts reported on modifications and improvements in the draft standard made after it was discussed in April 2010. The experts put special emphasis on classifications of fraudulent activities, refining the requirements for architectural systems for security controls for preventing fraudulent activities in public carrier networks and clarifying the means and principles for cooperation among carriers in order to protect their earnings.

During the meeting, TTC and the international organization Forum for the International Irregular Network Access (FIINA) also reached an agreement on joint development of the standard.

Artem Kudryavtsev, the President of TTC, said: “Involvement of our company’s experts in the ITU-T study group will help familiarize us with foreign experience of interest to the Russian communications sector. It’s important that this work is recognized as the Russian Federation’s contribution to activities of the main international standardization agency in the field of telecommunications.”

TTC has been a member of ITU-T since January 2009 and regularly takes part in events along ITU-T lines.
