OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2011. Azerbaijan-Belarus business meeting held in Baku on March 11th supported by the Ministry of Economic Development, organized by Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Azerbaijan.

About 30 government officials and businessmen from agriculture and food processing sectors came together during the meeting. Within the official part of the event AZPROMO head Adil Mammadov presented investment climate and business opportunities in Azerbaijan, underlining the achievements of the economy within recent years. Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Azerbaijan Nikolay Patskevich in his turn spoke on the ways of deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries emphasizing the importance of the development of business ties.

Deputy Executive Director of Azerbaijan Investment Company Rovshan Najaf spoke on the activities of the company as well as non-oil sector projects under implementation followed by deputy head of Belarus Chamber of Commerce and industry Vera Sirachova speaking on the importance of bilateral meetings as well as interest on the part of entrepreneurs. The event followed with bilateral meetings between the entrepreneurs of both countries where cooperation perspectives were discussed.

Within the framework of their visit to Azerbaijan Belarus business delegation visited the Sumgayit Technologies Park. Belarus businessmen were introduced to the plants andproduction units operating within the park and manufacturing products for electric energy industry. It was mentioned, that technopark is a huge enterprise that implements new infrastructure projects. At the moment 9 plants operate within the Techno park. One more plant is expected to be given into exploitation in the nearest future - Precision Processing Centers Plant. The construction of the remaining 8 plants is being continued. At the moment more than 1000 employees work at the enterprise. This number will increase to 3000 after the official opening of all plants. Export oriented machine-building products meeting world standards are already being produced in techno park. In future the park is planned to be expanded for 30 plants and production units that will produce different types of products - cables, transformers, high voltage equipment , hydro turbines, water pumps, electro engines, pipes and others. The guests expressed their satisfaction with the overall dynamic socio-economic development in Azerbaijan as well as the utilization of the new technologies and equipment meeting the world standards at the local enterprises.
