OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. Belarus’ ferrous rolled stock output rose 4.5% on the year in January 2011 to 229,400 tonnes, an official with Belarus’ National Statistics Committee stated Thursday.

Steel output increased 1.6% on the year to 233,700 million tonnes, and steel pipe output was up 130% on the year to 24,800 tonnes in the period. Standard quality wire output rose 33.2% on the year to 27,800 tonnes in the period, and steel wire output rose 60% to 7,400 tonnes.

Belarusian companies produced 8,700 tonnes of metal cord in the period, up 2% on the year.

In monetary terms, ferrous metal output in Belarus increased 21.9% on the year to 549 billion Belarusian rubles (Br) in January 2011.
